Head of Software Engineering at WeFX John Tran

John is a multi-disciplinary professional who graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1995 with a B.A.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering and Management Science. He holds the Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licence from Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and the Real Estate Broker licence from the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO).

 John is a problem solver, focused on researching and developing innovative solutions for potentially difficult problems. His philosophy is, "if you can describe it, it can be built."

 In the past 30 years, John has managed software teams, architected software systems, delivered training courses, and coded many, many lines of code.  He has created software for various industry verticals, including medical, pharmaceutical, education, food service, engineering, mining, insurance, financial services, real estate, and since 2018, film production.

 In VFX, John created pipeline tools for ingest & delivery, colour management, timeline review, DCC and Shotgrid integrations, farm processing, time tracking, HR reporting and data visualizations.

John’s portfolio of software projects include database applications, business intelligence and data analysis, client-server systems, full stack web applications, networking, blockchain dApps, and mobile apps.
