Pooya is a driven, forward-thinking, and award-winning filmmaker with over 15 years of experience as a creative director in the advertising industry, where he transforms visual concepts into captivating, ambitious, and aesthetically appealing stories.
Pooya is also experienced as a director and writer in the film industry; his first feature film, Dressage, received numerous awards from international film festivals, including both a Special Mention in the Grand Prix of the Generation 14Plus International Jury and a nomination for the Best First Feature Award at the 2018 Berlin Film Festival.
To ensure content meets or exceeds expectations, he oversees the filmmaking process, manages deadlines, navigates within budget limits, and handles additional production elements crucial to completing a project. He is an advocate for unique and visually innovative storytelling and the inclusion of new filming techniques to further the industry.
As a director, producer, and creative director, he has honed skills and developed expertise in many areas including artistic vision, film and commercial production, direction, editing, strategic planning, project management, team leadership, cinematography, screenwriting, communications, relationship management, and marketing and promotions.
Pooya is currently working towards a Master of Fine Arts within York University’s Department of Cinema and Art to add to his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater and Drama, Diploma of Graphic and Visual Arts, and MBA in Creative Leadership from Cannes Lions | The Berlin School of Creative Leadership.
