"Nick’s natural artistic talent led him to take an interest in concept art and matte painting, and an education studying technical illustration at Sheridan College led him to his first VFX role. Nick first started as a compositor before transitioning into matte painting and environment work, eventually becoming the head of matte painting.
In this role, Nick was able to lead the digital matte painting team towards new techniques and workflows, while acting as a bridge between 3D and 2D departments. Nick utilized his unique skillset in digital painting, 3D, and compositing to create initial concepts and take them through to 3D environment and final composition.
As VFX supervisor, Nick’s experience along with his artistry and eye for detail enable him to bring even the most challenging creative visions to life. His work can be seen in Apple TV’s See, Amazon’s The Expanse, and Netflix’s Stranger Things, Altered Carbon, and Grand Army."
